Requesting that the Committee on Government and Finance study the Medicaid Waiver Program for the elderly and people with disabilities in West Virginia.

HEREAS , A crucial need exists for services provided to the elderly and people with disabilities through the Medicaid Waiver Program; and
W
HEREAS , There has been an increase in West Virginia's elderly population, but a decrease in the number of citizens enrolled in the Medicaid Aged/Disabled Waiver Program; and
W
HEREAS , A waiting list to participate in the Medicaid Aged/Disabled Waiver Program continues to grow in West Virginia; and
W
HEREAS , There is a need for a level of services for seniors and people with disabilities which cannot be met by Medicaid; and
W
HEREAS , It is in the best interest of all West Virginians to ensure that our elderly and citizens with disabilities receive the care and services they need; therefore, be it
Resolved by the Legislature of West Virginia: That the Legislature hereby requests the Joint Committee on Government and Finance to study the Medicaid Waiver Program for the elderly and people with disabilities in West Virginia and the need for additional state funded home services for this population; and, be it
Further Resolved, That the Joint Committee on Government and Finance report to the regular session of the Legislature, 2007, on or before the thirty-first day of January, 2007, on its findings, conclusions and recommendations, together with drafts of any legislation necessary to effectuate its recommendations; and, be it
Further Resolved, That the expenses necessary to conduct this study, to prepare a report and to draft necessary legislation be paid from legislative appropriations to the Joint Committee on Government and Finance.
